The State of AI 2017: Inflection Point

The State of AI 2017: Inflection Point is the inaugural report from MMC Ventures on everything to do with Artificial Intelligence. Aimed at informing and empowering corporate executives, entrepreneurs and investors, the report goes beyond the hype to explain the reality of AI today, what is to come and how to take advantage.

MMC Ventures, a research-driven venture capital firm investing in high-growth technology businesses briefed us to produce the report, comprising 10 chapters, 60 exhibits, 128 pages and over 35,000 words. We started by developing a visual identity for the report – with the working title of 'Tech connections' – we based the look and feel on the graphic language of computer code, networks and connections. In a subtle and graphic way, shapes and graphics evoke the notion of networks, grids and structures, but still feel modern and engaging.

“Dan’s work was exceptional and I cannot recommend him highly enough. He developed a thoughtful, creative and broad range of visual identities for the report, from which we selected and developed one. He designed over 60 exhibits, typeset over 120 pages of text and with strong attention to detail, achieving the balance between formality and impact that we requested.

In addition, he also sourced photography and supervised printing of 3,000 reports. Dan coped well with an extremely challenging timeline, and with copy that was in a state of flux. He always delivered to schedule.”

In addition to the report, we produced other key pieces of communication to help MMC Ventures launch the report at their unique event at The London Stock Exchange building. We produced a printed invitation, plus a series of HTML email invitations in the build up to the event.

In all, over 4,000 copies of the report, (printed and PDF format) were distributed to the UK’s leading investors, entrepreneurs and corporate executives across hundreds of organisations. It was also presented at dozens of external events, ranging from the House of Lords Select Committee on AI, to the Columbia Business School’s Alumni Chapter.
